2008 Season - Week 16
Reality Not Fantasy
Congratulations to Tennessee who locked down the AFC home field advantage with a very impressive victory over the now confirmed number 2 seed Pittsburgh. The Colts have wrapped up the number 5 seed in the AFC so there are 3 more postseason places up for grabs in the AFC. 1) The number 3 seed will be the AFC East Winner:- Miami (if they beat the Jets in New York), New England (if they win and Miami lose) or the Jets, if they beat Miami and New England lose @ Buffalo. 2) The AFC West goes to the winner of the Sunday Night Denver @ San Diego game (the loser goes home). The 6th spot will go to The Ravens if they beat Jacksonville in Baltimore. If Baltimore lose the 3 AFC East teams are still in contention. In the NFC the Giants OT win gave them the number 1 seed. Carolina are in but the loss means another loss to the Saints and an Atlanta victory against St. Louis and the Falcons will win the division and the number 2 seed. Atlanta’s win at Minnesota means they are in and Washington are out. Dallas can get the final playoff spot if they win in Philadelphia. If the Eagles win they will get in if Tampa Bay lose at home to Oakland and either the Bears lose in Houston or Minnesota lose against The Giants. A Dallas loss and a Bucs win and the Bucs get in. In the NFC North a Vikings win or a Bears loss and Minnesota win the 3 seed. A Vikes loss and a Bears win and Chicago get it. Despite losing 3 straight Arizona have won the NFC West and are the number 4 seed. Any questions?
Play-Offs Looming
The good news for the BUMS is that everyone makes the play-offs with the Road to BUMSBowl XIII starting in 11 days with the Wildcard Round. Saturday January 3rd and Sunday January 4th see the first round of our playoff competition. You will need to create a team of 1 QB, 1 Kicker and 4 outfield players from a $7.5m budget. Remember it is a head-to-head knockout contest against a fellow BUM and each team of 6 can have only 2 players which match your opponent so first to get their team in gets to keep more of their chosen first team. More details next week.
BUMS on Seats.
We will be at BUMS HQ on Sunday from 6pm to see Buffalo host New England followed by Miami @ NY Jets - both games will decide the AFC East. Both of the red button games have huge NFC playoff implications with Minnesota hosting The Giants followed by Dallas @ Philadelphia. The Sunday Night game will decide the AFC West as Denver travel to San Diego which we’ll watch on Monday at Mark’s from 6:30pm. The final newsletter will come out Tuesday giving everyone 4 days to get their Wildcard teams back to me. HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS.
